CRUZ BAY BOAT TRAFFIC

Not only is the real estate market on St. John picking up but so is traffic in Cruz Bay Harbor.  On a recent morning we were surprised with two criuse ships anchored off our busy harbor.  By all reports the visitors had a great time and some even took the time to shop for condos while on island.

Island Party Fun

As a follow up to my December 6 blog about “prom night” on St. John, here is a candid shot of me and my friend (and former Islandia office mate) Beth Tamplin Jones.  We were taking a break from the crowds and giving the high heels a rest at Paradiso Restaurant.
Thanks for carrying your camera Downing…

Season’s Greetings

The holiday season is upon us and it is good to see our visiting guests include those on the larger yachts again. In past years our lack of access to good facilities has sent the yachts passing through our waters and into the British Virgin Islands or further down island.
The opening of the beautiful new Yacht Haven in […]

The Buck Stops Here…

How about this buck? Looks like an 8 pointer. I happened to have my camera with me the other day up on Bordeaux Mountain when I spotted this magnificent creature striking a rather dignified pose. I was on my way up to Bordeaux Heights, a small subdivision way up near Picture Point […]

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Well, not really.  But Mongoose Junction is looking festive!Â
What I would really like to write about today is the retirement of our Inspector, Ralph Powell.  Ralph is retiring after 28 years at the DMV.  He may have frustrated many St. Johnians, but if you notice, the cars on St. John are closer to be up […]

Just when you thought it was safe…

Along comes Olga! Yesterday evening just as the sun was setting the wind started to freshen, the rains began in earnest and the temperature plunged into the low 70’s. The wind chill factor, I’m certain, was down in the 60’s! The way the trees were swaying was reminiscent of the early approach […]

Island Party-Season Celebration

We are just over one week away from the “Island Party” scheduled for the 15th of December. Local reastaurants and purveyors donate food and drink; local entertainers provide music for dance and celebration and everyone dresses for the occasion. Known affectionately as “prom night”, the community gathers to celebrate the season, visit and share food […]

St. John Christmas Ornaments

Â
This year Kimberly Boulon and Elaine Estern  have Christmas ornaments that are being displayed on the Christmas Tree in the Blue Room at the White House.  The Christmas Tree is commemorating National Parks.  There were 391 National Park asked to participate.  Both artists attended the lighting of the White House Christmas Tree last Wednesday, November 28th. […]

A little know subdivision at the end of the Bordeaux Mountain Road has had more paving of the estate roads done recently.  Work includes other improvements to the infrastructure as well such as drainage for a gray water system to collect rain water from the roads.  All lots in this subdivision have fantastic views up the […]
