How do I love thee…

I love St. John for its natural beauty, its eclectic people and its unique perspective on the rest of the world.  St. Johnians have a saying, “we’re all here ’cause we’re not all there” and it rings true on many levels.  From the moment I set foot on St. John about 12 years ago, I knew I wanted […]

Flights to St. Thomas

Whenever
St. Johnian’s are asked “where are you from”?  The majority of the time, the response will be from somewhere in
New England.  Well, for all of you New Englanders, tourist and locals alike, American Airlines started running their
Boston to
St. Thomas direct flight and they are keeping it cheap.  I’m only printing this because I purchased my […]

VI TAX REVALUATION UPDATE

Over 200 people attended a meeting with Government officials last week to discuss the new property revaluations.  Most attending were there to demonstrate  outrage at the disproportionate increase in values on St. John compared with St. Thomas and St. Croix.  Some of the reasons given for the unfairness of the model used on St. John were […]

Planning Ahead for Traffic Issues

The department of Public Works just completed the paving of the Bethany By-pass, which runs from the Bethany Moravian Church to the top of Jacob’s Ladder. This will take a lot of traffic headed to the Pine Peace and Westin areas off The Centerline Road and really prove its worth when construction of the round-about […]

A Muddy River Runs Through It

As St. John residents know we have had some locally heavy showers over the last few days. According to weather underground we have received about 2 inches over the last 2 days.  Nothing that is out of the ordinary for early October and nothing close to the flood in November 2005 when it rained 22 […]

BUST AND BOOM

A recent article in The National Review suggests that the current down turn in the real estate market is not nearly as alarming as pundits on national television would have us believe:

FINANCIAL markets gyrated wildly in August, in part because of concerns that the U.S. housing sector wouldbring the rest of the economy down. But […]
