The holiday features bike races, calypso shows, parades, fireworks and many festivities. The St. John celebration period encompasses Organic Act Day (third Monday in June), Carnival […]

Festival Village Coming Up

The best way to get around town these days is on foot as Carnival Village evolves daily in the parking lot across from the Post Office.
Water and Power Authority had the roads constricted today while preparing temporary power installation for the official opening of Festival Village Thursday night, June 28.
Plenty of good food […]

BOOKS ABOUT ST. JOHN, USVI

We have several excellent authors here on St. John, most of whom have lived on island for the majority of their lives.  For inside information and a little bit of fun, I’d highly suggest the following literature.
“St. John Beach Guide” is a photographically illustrated guide to the beaches of the St. John Virgin […]

Did you hear the one about…..

How slow is the real estate market?

“I have to have a raise in my commission,” the real estate agent said to his manager. “There are three other companies after me.”
“Is that so?” asked the manager. “What other companies are after you?”
“The electric company, […]

NEW ST. JOHNIAN

I snapped this photo of a new born Donkey just past Skinny Legs at Estate Emmaus.  When first born donkeys have very curly hair, almost like fur.  Pretty cute!!

Limin’

Limin’ – (verb) West Indian slang for loafing or relaxing. Now that summer is upon us, there is a notable slow down in activity here on St. John. Or maybe it’s just me. These lazy, hazy days of summer mean it’s time to take it down a notch and do some serious […]

A Boat For All Tastes

The above photo was snapped from my office window not long ago.  It shows what an interesting and busy harbor St. John has.  We see here a small cruise ship followed by a  sleek 3 masted yacht followed by the Harvey Gamage, a Maine coastal schooner.  A little something for everyone!
